Would You Like To Learn How To Do It Right ?
There is a great deal of satisfaction making your own web site. Especially when you learn from your site visitors and friends, how great your site looks. Creating web pages, is not that difficult a task. But, there are a few basic rules you should be aware of before you begin designing your web site.
First, let us comment on a disturbing fact. - There are many poorly designed web pages on the internet today! You may have seen some of these yourself. How do you know... "EXAMPLES: ..Web pages that take long periods of time to download. ..Or, some images contained on those pages do not display when the page has finished loading. ..Or, the page never finishes loading at all!" What went wrong? Why is this so?
These pages have been made by people who didn't take the time to properly learn HTML. The very worst of these pages, sometimes take in excess of 1½ - 2 minutes to load into view. I ask you this.. "Who wants to wait for a page that takes 2 minutes before you can see it?" Isn't your time more valuable?
The reasons for these situations can be many -- ranging from huge graphic files, to poorly written html code. The latter can often result in page errors. And, while "page errors" are sometimes forgiven by certain browsers, the majority of web browsers however, will display a web page exactly as the code has been written.
Below is a list of general guidelines that you should try to follow while designing your site. These guidelines are widely accepted throughout the web design industry, and will help to make your web site user friendly. Try to design your web site with these helpful tips in mind...
